Clarian West Invites Community to Child Abuse Prevention Fairs

Approximately 794,000 children are confirmed as abused or neglected each year, according to Child Protective Services- but the confirmed cases represent only a fraction of those abused. Child maltreatment is a significant public health problem in the United States, as most cases are neither reported, nor recognized. These injuries not only cause physical injury, but emotional injury that lasts long into adulthood, as well.

Clarian West Medical Center invites the community to join in the fight to stop child abuse. Clarian West is teaming up with Hendricks County agencies in an effort to support April’s National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The community is invited to come to one of the fairs at Clarian West during the month of April as a way to spotlight Hendricks County agencies that provide support services to parents and families. Several agencies will gather at the fairs to provide information about parenting skills, child development, counseling and possible financial assistance. The public is invited to come and learn about local assistance.
