U-Pick Farms

Looking for something fun to do with the kids? Spencers Farm located at 7177 E. 161st. Street in Noblesville has blueberries and blackberries ready to be picked. It is a great way to spend the day with the children and teach them about eating healthy. If you plan to go here are some tips for your day:

-Pack for a day trip - I always bring snacks, hand towels or disposable wipes and plenty of liquids to drink. Spencers has a great picnic area if you want to make a day of it.
-Bring containers for picking and for carrying the fruit home (smaller containers are better for children's smaller hands), Spencers will provide them for a fee, but the kids love having their own basket from home.
-Dress in old clothes and worn athletic shoes; you want to be comfortable and not worried about staining or tearing your clothes! My kids always come home covered in berry juice.
-Wide-brimmed hats help protect you from the summer sun; and in the Fall, extra layers keep you warm. Don't forget sunscreen for the back of your neck and exposed skin.
