Make Your Plans Now to Attend the Cherish the Child Conference

Child Care Answers 2nd Annual Prevent Child Abuse Conference

In 2009 Marion, Hamilton, Hendricks and Johnson Counties had a total of 1,508 substantiated physical and sexual abuse cases involving children. Many of these instances could have been prevented with proper training and education.

On April 16th, 2011, Child Care Answers will be hosting their 2nd annual Prevent Child Abuse Conference at Ivy Tech Community College from 8:30 am until 3 pm. Participants will have an opportunity to receive a 5 hour training certificate by selecting from a variety of break-out sessions. Breakfast and lunch will also be served. The cost is only $20 per person.

Sgt. Terry Hall, who is retired from the Indiana State Police, will be the keynote speaker. He will be speaking about keeping children safe and how children are often abused twice; once by the suspect and then by the system because crimes against children are treated very lightly compared to crimes against adults. Terry Hall is the founder of the Body Safety Program (Good Touch, Bad Touch) who travels all over the nation to educate adults as well as children about how to keep their bodies safe. He includes in his curriculum Bus Safety, Classroom Safety and Playground Safety.

Session choices throughout the day include; Child Abuse 101 and 102, The Power of Prevention, Meth lab recognition, Sexting, Online Child Exploitation, Abusive Head Trauma and Stewards of Children.
